A workplace is not your home unless you perform it in your home. Emotional and physical stress develops when dealing with human beings of different kinds in the workplace. Yoga Asanas (Yoga postures) can greatly reduce this. I have been a Yoga practitioner for the last three decades and more. I can provide valuable suggestions, especially for those who have no time at home to practice and can perhaps spend a few minutes either in their official workout place provided by the office or in their own seats.

Hello Raghavan,

Thank you for letting us know about you. We appreciate your tips to avoid stress or increase energy levels at work. On a personal note, I'd also like for you to give us steps to meditation at work. My fellow colleagues have been pestering me to conduct meditation sessions for at least 10-20 minutes a day at the office as a part of my training program.

I hope to receive some help from your end.

Dear Ms. Gayathri,

Yoga shows different ways to help alleviate stress in people. Stretching asanas like Trikonasana, Dhanur Asana, and Surya Namaskar can aid in reducing muscular stress.

If you are seeking tips on meditation in the office, here they are:

Sit down in a chair, let there be noise. Don't try to control the noise or loud chatter around you. Watch each sound or chatter with attention; don't react even if it is personal. Initially, it may be challenging to sit like that without any reaction, but you can try and see. Lie down on a towel or a spread, close your eyes, breathe normally. After a few seconds, belly breathe with hissing sounds. This will help your tense body relax, and the agitation will lessen. Watch your breath as you inhale and exhale with each flow and imagine you are in a faraway land or on a voyage. This practice can be very beneficial initially.

Best of luck,

V. Raghavan

Hello, Ms. Gayathri.

Since you are in New Delhi, you can plan a retreat in Rishikesh or Uttarkashi with friends. Garhwal Vikas Nigam Mandal provides good lodging facilities. Don't take your cell phones.

Good wishes,
