Can anyone share any Best practices or tips on how to develope great relationships with team members and Senior management? How do you develope a rapport with the typical autocratic type of managers or as other people would identify them as "mean managers"
What qualities other than the typical (above and beyond, team players) do senior management look for when they are looking to promote?

I do not know how to rate YES MEN in ANY organization.
I've Just one question for all the YES MEN.
DO YOU GET PAID FOR NODDING YOUR HEAD?OR FOR SAYING YES TO EVERYTHING YOUR BOSS SAYS.
I WONDER IF SUCH PEOPLE HAVE ANY GREY MATTER AT ALL

There are ways to say "YES". Now depend upon u how u say "YES SIR". If u say to boss that this is not correct, he ll sort out you but if u convince that this should be done in this way which will be better than what you say. then boss will realise and he ll accept ur choice otherwise he ll give left and right to u. now ur choice.

your answer of your question is very simple. As you will grow in the career you will get to know that "higher designation = higher expectations from juniors and higher job insecurity" in some cases managers are just judging your patience or capabilities of doing work in adverse situations.

If your manager is not happy with you or he/she is always strict with you, keep following points in your mind while doing work.

1 everyone need a friend, subordinate, or a person with whom they can share their frustrations. your manager might be frustrate with higher management or with his/her personal affairs.

try to read person's psychology.

2 show them that in stress also you can smile.

Smile is the key of success.

at least once try to forget that your manager is strict with you or he/she don’t like you. try to think positively, as might be you are doing a mistake continuously unknowingly.

do smart work and try to make him dependant on you, he must realize what are your importance for the organization and even for him.

follow these points with positive attitude. I know this is not an easy task but believe me just try it once by full heart. you will surely get success.

job changing is not a solution for this coz there is no guarantee that you wont ge such manager again.

That was a very very positive comment.. I think one more thing which should be included is " Never get too close to your boss".
Normally when we find our bosses appreciating or praising there is a tendency to get close to the boss. I guess it is human tendency..
So I think this too should be highlighted.. And yeah if you want ur boss to agree ur point of view, keep some points in mind to convince him that this might be a better option.

No body can predict the individual behaviour/nature. One day u may also be boss........if ur junior will apply same method......wat u ll do to handle jr?????? so no any sterio type (audio vidual............) method to handle. depend upon the nature or behaviour of individual....
Hav u heard about such boss who take u to his house for personal work............?????? If u ll not do.......wat will be the result.........????
So it is not like song which needs to start tape to listen.....but needs to sing a song as per prevail climate...(boss).

To Deal with Bosses or colleagues who have Director Style of communiation, use the following ways to communicate, it surely does help
Adopt a direct, serious tone.
Give information in “bottom line” terms.
Keep meetings short.
Assert your own ideas.
Do not misinterpret their abruptness as a sign of disrespect or criticism.
