A client of mine wants me to conduct a salary survey for the consulting industry in India. My company doesn't have the expertise to conduct a salary survey but would definitely like to try our hand at it. Could you please tell me how we should go about it? I need to know which model or methodology would be appropriate considering our capabilities.

Dear Ashish,

Firstly, depending on the industry in which you want to conduct the survey, kindly identify the ORG rating of your client company. Based on the ORG rating, identify 10 companies below or above your client's ranking, also considering their equivalent turnover.

After identifying the companies, list all key positions. You can then either inquire with your fellow placement consultants to find out the salary offered for each position if they are your clients, or utilize any job portal database you have access to in order to find the salary information for all positions in those companies.
