I am new to CSR jobs and all my colleagues are based at rural areas where they are doing extremely well in CSR. But the industry where i am working is situated in a City and all the opeartional villages are semi-urban areas. I am really facing lots of problems to make sure that what kind of activities i can do here?

Hello friend,
Please look around and think and you will get many ideas for doing service to society. Just go and meet some schools around your area - let it be semi- urban, you will notice that there are opportunities to improve drinking water quality of for school children. If you organize an eye check-up you will notice 10% students have eye sight problem. If your company can do something for the school children it will be worthy cause.
Of course you will first need to identify the needs of the society around you. Second is what role your organization wants to play. Based on this you can prepare an action plan.
One more example - in cities you would see the plight of a lady driving a 2-wheeler and her vehicle stops in the middle of the road. She is helpless and feels embarrassed. College of Engineering Pune was sensitive to this issue and they organized a special training session for ladies to get knowledge on the different 2-wheelers and how to face such problems. They informed them of techniques to trouble shoot and rectify some simple problems. The training sessions were conducted by expert mechanics of 2-wheelers. There was overwhelming response to the initiative.
