Hello Members,

Would really appreciate if you can help me out on this....

Ours is an IT firm. Out of a 50 employees, 35 are placed at client's end. Their superiors or the reporting authority is someone from the clients' end itself. Our employees were always after us for introducing Performance Appraisal System in the org. Their reason behind it was to get timely increment. Now we have introduced the concept of Performance Appraisal in the organization. We have made the forms and send them to all the employees and got the filled forms back too. But here are few problems which we am facing :

1) As they are not well trained for filling up the forms they have marked 5 on 5 for all the attributes.

2) As their immediate supervisor is not working with us, we cant have his daily reports or ask them to appraise him as per our norms.

3) As he's at client location, which is not same as the city in which our office is, so its not possible to have a face to face discussion with him.

4) Now what ever we try to do, its very difficult for us to satisfy them with their ratings.

Please guide me what to do.

Regards

Richa

Hi,
The first things is give the training to employs ant their supervisors on the PMS (rating, assessing etc).
I don't know how big is your organization, but if you can get this PMS online it would solve the problem if appraiser and appraisee are not in the same city. Have a system which can be accessed online from anywhere in India or outside. But at the same time HR has to keep a track whether it is being done on time or not and at the same time it is fair.
I hope this information could be of some help to you.

Hello Richa. Your primary problem is not technological. Putting your performance management system online will not solve your problems. Your problems stem from you organizational structure and your performance management method and process. These are things that you need to fix first before you do anything else:
1. You have people called “supervisors” in the clients’ organizations that are not really supervising your staff.
2. You are asking employees to self-appraise their performance with the hope of getting objective appraisals.
You can start by getting some basic information on how to set up an employee performance management system at http://www.businessperform.com/html/...anagement.html
