Dear All,
There is lack of awareness among many people about PF/ pension and gratuity matters. Gone are days when people used to stay in one company and retire from there only. Now resignations are very common as young people look for better opportunity. One thing all of you must remember thst PF number to an employee is alloted by the Company and not by RPFC,be it exempted or unexempted PF. Pf number strarts with state code followed by RPFC code alloted to Company and then followed by employee's PF no. For example MH stands for Maharashtra, 35086 is the code number given by RPFC tp the Company and finally 835 is individual Pf number of the employee. But for all communication purposes you have quote the full number MH/35086/835. Immediately after getting 1st month's salary you must insist for PF number if the same is not appearing in the Pay slip. Pl remember the employer is bound by statute to inform PF office joining and resignations of employees with their PF numbers. Therefore you don't have to run from pillar to post for your PF number. Insist your employer to give you the same. If the employer does not furnish it he must be doing something wrong and violating the statute.

As chandrasekar stated you can contact the pf redressal cell.Analyze which zone your company will fall under.If you tell the locality of your office in PF office or any consultant they will guide you which zone either Tambaram or anyother this will narrow your search.
