I joined the small organization Company A and left during the probation period. The company provided the relieving letter. In the next organization, Company B, they asked for an experience letter. So, I prepared it from my side and submitted it. However, while preparing it, I made a mistake and put the wrong date, like 18 instead of 15.

During the Background Verification (BGV) process, this mistake was caught. I came clean to my previous employer, Company A. They only confirmed the employment details as per the company records and did not comment on the document's authenticity. The BGV team told me to prove the document's authenticity, or they will revoke the employment offer.

What will be the impact on an employee's career? How does it show in their relieving letter and employment record in the current organization? If an employee searches for a new job and doesn't show the experience letter, providing only whatever documents they received from small Company A, will there be any impact on their employment at Company B?
