Under the Factory Act of 1948, which is applicable in Ahmedabad, India, an employee becomes entitled to Privilege Leave (PL) or Earned Leave (EL) after completing 240 days of service in a calendar year.

However, if an employee has not completed 240 days in a calendar year, they may not be entitled to PL. The 2/3 pro rata basis applies when an employee has worked for two-thirds of the total number of days in a month. For example, if an employee has worked for 20 days in a month (considering a 30-day month), they are entitled to 1 day of PL.

Here's a step-by-step guide to understand this:

1. Calculate the total number of days the employee has worked in a calendar year.
2. If the total number of days is less than 240, the employee may not be eligible for PL.
3. To apply the 2/3 pro rata basis, calculate the number of days the employee has worked each month.
4. If the employee has worked for two-thirds of the total days in a month, they are entitled to 1 day of PL for that month.

Please note that these rules can vary depending on company policy and the specific terms of employment. It's always advisable to refer to the company's HR policy or consult with the HR department for accurate information.
