Dear Team,
Please suggest to me about Earned leave. The organization said Earned leave 1.5 will be given after 6 months.
A person who joined in January or finished 6 months and then earned leave will be applicable - 1.5X as per our organization? The question is - can a person get his earned leave balance right from joining? Will they get 1.5x6 = 9 or only 1.5?

Yes, it has to be from the Department of Justice (DOJ). Check the local Shop and Establishment Act for accruals and eligibility. At the time of exit, EL (earned leave) has to be encashed. It's the company that can decide on the following:
- Should it be given post-probation?
- Accruals upfront or month on month?
- Set a maximum limit post which it shall lapse.

Normally, earned leave (leave earned by working for a certain period) is credited once an employee completes 12 months with the company. As such, an employee who joined in January 2024 will only get earned leave in January 2025. The number of leave days may be one day for every twenty days worked, resulting in approximately 15 days of leave for the year. In the meantime, if, say, after 6 months, the company provides earned leave, it is acceptable. When the earned leave becomes due at the end of the year, the leaves already taken will be adjusted, and the remaining balance will be credited. The relevance of 1.5 is not understood.

Is this a factory or an office? Are there any other types of leaves like casual leave, medical leave? If not, and if this is an office, then the norms followed by most offices are: Leave accrues at 1.5 days per month during the probation period. After the probation period (which could be 6 months to 1 year), the leave gets credited to the employee's account (in your case, 9 days would be accrued), and the employee can take leave subject to the accrued limit.
