Hi My,

Daughter is being harassed by HR of WIPRO and not sure what and from whom she will get justice following are key points.

She Joined 25th August 2021, WIPRO as an associate and a bond which was for 75000 Rupees, as back office support. She was honest, dedicated, and had spent 11 months in the Company, she was never given a confirmation letter after 6 months and an increase in salary. She was always a rank holder and selected by IIM for Ph.D., fully sponsored by HRD Govt. Of India. She requested for Sabbatical leave, which was not Granted. However, her team lead suggested to resign, and my Daughter did that on 19th June 2021, and continued office till 24th and 25th & 26th Was Saturday Sunday, she was in touch with the team lead on 27th & 28th June over the phone & email. She had 22 days of Balance leaves, when she had resigned, She was working from Home, hence offered the Company to give services over the phone in case they want.

However, nothing concrete communication was received. However, a false letter of inquiry (email) was sent on 27th June 2022, where it was written that she is not reachable to anyone, also she had a 1-hour discussion with one of WIPRO's female executives. My daughter gave her all explanation. However, the lady declared that she will declare my Daughter Absconder. After regular follow-ups over email on the final clearance of separation, she was presented with false inquiry findings, and she contested, by giving a complete history of communication.

Post which she got an email on resignation letter acceptance and directing her to seek clearance from any asset or money. Clearance department gave clearance on no pending assets. However, the team has come up with the recovery of Rs. 116,167. To which my daughter has contested by saying that she had completed 11 months, 22 days balance leave (one month) has not been adjusted against the notice period, She was not given confirmation and raise as communicated during the interview, hence she is on Probation period, which clearly mention only one month notice period or recovery from either side is not considered at all.

As I was recruited as an associate, no special training was given to me, also the sample soft copy of the bond for executive cadre employee was sent to me as a reference. I had never seen a bond in my name and had never signed any document, however, I said once I will come to the office that time, I will sign the bond related to my role. Now they are demanding Rs. 75000 as recovery, even though I had worked for 11 months and 22 days leave. Being honest, simple, and transparent women, who would like to pursue a doctorate program, where the company has not been flexible for reasons known to them, and I had been requesting for their support, which doesn't look like, as the matter is being dragged by HR with false inquiry data, incorrect recovery by not considering my leaves. and I am not joining any other company or competitor but pursuing higher studies. Kindly someone help and Guide, looks like they have only the agenda to Harass.

You are putting a different picture of WIPRO. It surely looks like harassment, repeated attempts to frustrate you. It looks like HR or some higher official is having an attitudinal problem with you.

There is not much that can be done except to repeat the facts narrated above and talk it over. Like the issue of abandonment you could deal successfully, the notice period issue also you can deal with on the strong basis that her notice period is only one month and she has 22 days of leave which is to be adjusted.

It is learnt that there is a grievance procedure in WIPRO, you may raise your issues there too.

Thanks for your response, and I agree with you, it's the attitude issue, maybe of leaders in HR, the reason to believe is.

She went to the office on 24 June, Friday, then 25th & 26th was the weekend, she got an email on 27th, Monday from HR, stating that she had been unreachable for the past few days, which is a false narrative.

She was directed to speak to the Inquiry team on the 28th; however, no number was provided. She followed up over email regarding the schedule of discussions and the number, which was ignored.

Around 6:30 PM, she received a call from a lady, and the discussions lasted almost 45 minutes to 1 hour. During the conversation, my daughter explained about Sabbatical leave for her Ph.D. and was advised on resignation. However, the lady insisted on declaring her case as absconding. My daughter could have applied for a one-month leave and managed the situation, but it seems that honesty and sincerity at WIPRO take a back seat.

After a couple of weeks, the report of the inquiry was sent via email, which contained false information stating she was not contactable. My daughter shared evidence showing she had followed up multiple times with HR, team leaders, and managers via email (15 to 18 occurrences).

This indicates an attempt to use organizational power to create hurdles and mental harassment by presenting false data and prolonging the separation process.

Does such a big organization allow the HR department to engage in such harassment, raising questions about the organization's work culture, ethics, and sensitivity towards employees and being women-friendly?

No one benefits from such situations; it's a lose-lose scenario for both the organization and the individual. These instances can serve as case studies to raise awareness in management institutions. Is there anyone in the organization who can help resolve this issue amicably, considering there are no ill intentions behind leaving for other opportunities?

Same with me. Despite being seriously ill and in need of surgery, all medical documents shared, I was declared as absconding until I report to work to serve notice period. Nobody even bothered about my health.
