Dear All,

I have been working in a US-based company for 5 years as an Asst HR Manager. However, we had an HR in the US who left last month. Now, management is asking me to work on US hiring as well. I am not being paid extra for this additional responsibility. Do I have the right to ask for the same, or is it reasonable to request a salary increase for handling US hiring? I am currently only paid 45k per month, and my office hours are the normal day shift only.

I handle HR generalist duties and recruitment for a company with 60+ employees, and I am the sole HR personnel.

Please advise me on a suitable solution.

I personally see that there is a very good opportunity hidden in this new opening of role for you to learn and perform the US Recruitment. Additionally, US Hiring, as you know, is a specialized profile, and it will add great value to your CV. You may find it as additional work or a burden without any monetary benefits while also doing this role. But see the other side of the coin. The Company is giving a golden chance to you as an internal candidate, knowing your potential, and they want to groom you better for further roles in the company. We understand the difficulties of managing the entire HR for this company single-handedly, but the company also acknowledges this. Opportunities will come to you, and you need to grab them to grow on the ladder. Down the line, in the next 4 or 5 years, you will find your CV stronger, and you will be in a better position within or outside the company with more command in your role if you take up this chance and work with positivity.
