Hello, I have been working for the past 4 years as a digital marketing freelancer, but now I am seeking a full-time job. I have recently completed my graduation and am currently pursuing an MBA through distance learning.

I have received an offer from a digital marketing agency that consists of only 4 employees, offering a monthly salary of around 20k to me. Alternatively, I have another option to join an MNC called "Optum," a part of United Health Group, in Gurgaon in the claims associate profile.

I would appreciate your advice on what I should do next. If you are aware of any major companies in the digital marketing sector where I could apply, I would be grateful for your assistance.

Dear Thisisanonymous,

Working for both small and large companies has its advantages and disadvantages.

If a small company grows, you may have the opportunity to advance to a senior management position more quickly. Due to the limited number of employees, the working environment is generally more flexible.

However, in small companies, systems and processes are often not well-established. Standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and other essential documentation may be lacking. Work is often conducted based on verbal instructions. Additionally, smaller companies, such as those with only four employees, may not offer benefits like Provident Fund (PF) or Employee State Insurance (ESI). Female employees might not be eligible for maternity leave in such organizations.

On the contrary, larger companies typically have well-defined systems and processes. Working in such an environment can offer several advantages. By learning and implementing these procedures effectively, you can carry this experience forward to future roles. Moreover, larger companies often provide statutory benefits such as PF, ESI, and gratuity. You may have the opportunity to work under dynamic managers, gaining valuable insights into different management styles. Furthermore, working in a larger company may open doors to other departments and diverse experiences. Awards and recognition, like "Employee of the Year," are also more common. Interacting with professionals from various disciplines such as HR or Finance can enhance your knowledge. Lastly, the reputation of a well-known company can enhance your resume significantly.

However, the downside of working in a larger company is feeling like a small fish in a vast sea. No matter how significant your role, the company will always be much larger and more extensive.

In conclusion, both small and large companies offer unique benefits and challenges. The decision ultimately rests with you.

All the best!

Dear Dinesh,

It may be possible for the employee to avail the Maternity benefit. It depends upon the applicable S&E Act in the particular state. As he/she is working in a Digital Company, the company may be covered under the State Shops & Establishments Act. You are not covered under the MB Act as the employee strength is less than 10, but go through the applicable Shops Act for maternity leaves. According to the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishments Act, 1958, every woman employed is entitled to maternity leave with some conditions. Section 31 on maternity benefits is given below for ready reference.

31. Maternity benefit - (1) Every woman employed in an establishment or who has been continuously employed in that establishment or in establishments belonging to the employer of that establishment for a period of not less than six months preceding the date of her delivery shall be entitled to receive, and the employer shall be liable to make to her a payment of maternity benefit which shall be prescribed by the Government for every day during the six weeks immediately preceding and including the day of her delivery and for each day of six weeks following her delivery. Provided that no such payment shall be made for any day on which she attends work and receives payment thereof during the six weeks preceding her delivery.

(2) The manner in which the maternity benefit shall be payable may be prescribed by the Government.

It all depends on what your passion is. Would you like to build a career in Digital Marketing? Do you think you have enough expertise to land a job where you can earn a salary of 40-50K or even more?

Only you know the answers to the above questions. If you aspire to pursue a career in Digital Marketing, why settle for 20K? Aim for a higher-paying job. Anyone with 4 years of experience in DM and competence can secure a job with better pay than 20K.

Post your requirements on LinkedIn, and I am confident you will receive some interview offers for higher-paying positions.

I believe you need to decide whether you want to pursue a career in DM or join a large company at an associate level and start from scratch. You already have 4 years of experience in DM. Why let it go to waste?

Hello,
Greetings of the day,
Many people have written you a lot of suggestions, but I’ll give you true (bitter) path for the same.
1. You should go with "Optum" which is a part of United Health Group in Gurgaon as claims associate profile or any another big company with big or medium package (know all the thing about company).
2. In the field of digital marketing, maximum companies are taking their work from outsides or franchisees or small companies, they do not depute digital marketing executive at their own, also very minimum payment is given for a long time.
3. If you continue run with small companies or with freelancers, your future may be blocked. Until you get a big company with handsome package you cannot make your strong future. For this, you can also quit from the job of digital marketing.
Wishing you very best of luck.
Bye.
