Calculating Shift Allowance for Night and Sunday Shifts: Guidelines and Options - CiteHR

Sir, I am working with a calibration company. Our working hours are from 9:30 to 6. Usually, our engineers work regular hours. Sometimes, they work night shifts and Sunday shifts as requested by clients. How do we calculate the allowance for this? If a person works one day-night shift in a week, what is their eligible leave?

Consult the Shops & Commercial Establishments Act before deciding. You may consider the following:

1. Allow overtime/holiday wages (amounting to double the wages).
2. If left to your choice, allow compensatory off or credit to leave for an equivalent number of days.
3. Convert it to incentives as per some slab rate and pay.
