Will a CPSU which follows contributory provident fund deduct PF from subsistence allowance and contribute the matching amount to PF during the suspension period?

During suspension period you are not paid salary but only subsistence allowance is paid. Subsistence allowance is an amount paid for the survival o the employee. It is not earned by the employee by working in the establishment it will not come under the definition of wages. Therefore, Subsistence allowance will not attract PF contribution.

But there is feeling among many HR that labour laws impact differently for public and private sector establishments. Except for a provision in Payment of Bonus Act there is no difference in applicability of labour laws.
