Case: A worker (who is also a permanent employee) has contracted a disease named "Noise-Induced Hearing Loss." The certifying surgeon, during his visit, recommended transferring the affected worker. Please suggest some ways to handle the issues, taking into consideration the following factors:

1. Complex transfer policy

Workers in factories (industrial establishments) are governed by the provisions of certified standing orders/model standing orders, which have provisions for such specified situations. Hence, they should act accordingly.

As far as the union's role is concerned, the registered trade union can take up the case of such worker members who sustain a loss of earning capacity due to work hazards. These workers may need to be deployed, subject to medical fitness, for an alternate job in another department of the same employer with their salary/wages frozen.
