This is Madhu from Tirupur working as an HR Assistant Manager in a reputed company. I have a question regarding my friend who used to work in a private company. He took a long leave for personal reasons, and upon returning, the company's security did not allow him inside. As a result, he found a job in another company. However, he is now facing an issue with claiming his provident fund (PF) as the previous company did not update his exit date in the PF account. Consequently, he is unable to claim the PF, and he urgently needs the money for his sister's marriage.
Could you please provide some ideas on how he can claim the PF?

Same case with one of my relatives. He was working for a Delhi-based company in Jan '19 and after that, he joined Simplex Infrastructure Ltd. in Aligarh in Feb '19 for only 15 days, and then returned to the old company. In between, Simplex opened his PF account. Due to this, his old company continued his old PF number, and finally, Simplex did not mention the date of exit in his PF account.
In that case, the only way is for him to ask Simplex for a correction in their database so that he can withdraw the PF account. Sometimes, only claims are not entertained by the PF department and can be rejected.

Hello there,
An employer has no right to withhold or fail to update the exit date. I can advise you to ask a few more times. If they do not respond, write a letter and lodge a complaint at the nearest PF office with all supporting documents.

You need to send a written mail to the HR person and copy to EPFO concerned office mail id. So that they will respond immediately. They do not have rights to with held your PF. Regards,
