Hi, in my office, employees have not completed their notice period and left the job without fulfilling the required notice period. When I called them to request completion of the notice period, they started to argue and engage in conflict. They also did not hand over their tasks to another person. As a result, my project work has been delayed, and the colleague who was working with them is unable to proceed with their assigned tasks. I had to contact the former employee and ask them to complete the pending work.

Dealing with such behavior from an employee can be challenging. It seems like individuals are shirking their responsibilities, causing unnecessary delays and disruptions. If anyone has suggestions on how to address this issue and ensure accountability and efficiency in the workplace, I would appreciate it.

The company needs to introspect. Normally, people join work to earn a livelihood, grow professionally, and not just to treat employment as a joke and run or abscond, etc. Look at the way employees are treated - is there any deficiency in standards of treatment? Management needs to have a holistic review of the whole system of employee treatment, work policies, and see what is triggering frequent work issues from the employee side. Analysis of these issues can provide solutions.

Why your employees are leaving is a major concern. You need to understand the causes/reasons from the employees' feedback to restructure your own house first.

As an employer, you need to be firm and resolute. Issue warnings and, if necessary, withhold payment. Inform the employee that they are free to leave but must adhere to the norms; otherwise, for non-compliance, management would terminate their employment and issue a public notification in the media. Discuss with your management team to establish contracts (bonds).
