It's been 5 months since I started working for one of the reputed organizations. I'm an HR fresher. When I joined the organization, they told me I'm into recruitment. Then I was trained in it, and later, for some reason, they have put me in learning and development. Two of my colleagues left from payroll, so to fill their place, they have now put me in payroll. I was so confused and am not aware of what I'm doing, so I wanted to know about my roles and responsibilities. I went to my boss asking about this. I was surprised; he simply blasted at me and didn't respond well. Even though my approach was polite, he chased me like a dog.
What should I do now? I don't feel like being in this organization. Also, I'm not getting any motivation to work for the organization. Please help me make a decision.

Dear friend,
What has happened to you is unfortunate. When one gets tossed around even within the department, then one's psychological well-being is bound to get disturbed. I empathize with your situation. Nevertheless, my suggestion is just to push on since you say that it is a "reputed" organization. Please note that each passing day adds value to your CV. Getting a job is difficult. Getting a job in a branded company is still more difficult. Therefore, my recommendation is to accept pleasantly what comes in your path.
One should devote oneself to work. However, this alone is not sufficient. Consider yourself as a facilitator who assists the HOD in the smooth working of his department. Therefore, devote yourself to your HOD as well. If you make a shift in your mindset, it will reduce ill feelings in your mind for being thwarted in attaining your goals.
General comments: Whenever a junior's work activity is changed even within the department, it merits taking the junior into confidence. The interesting thing about this post is that it has come from a junior in the HR Department. The HOD of the HR Department has mishandled the situation. Far from counseling the employee on the need to accept what comes in his path, he exploded with his emotions. HR professionals have a penchant for talking about employee engagement, emotional intelligence, and so on. But when it comes to implementing these theories at their workplace, they abandon the theories. This is a classic example of it. With this type of behavior, can the originator of this post engage with his work or his company? It is a point to ponder.
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar

Dear Friend,
This is a very good opportunity for you. I have overcome this situation with the steps below, which may be helpful for you.
1. First, understand the concept of payroll (Attendance, Earnings, Deductions, Statutory Compliances like PF, ESI, TDS, PT).
2. For your reference, search on Cite HR, CA Club, and YouTube to gain knowledge of different practices.
3. After that, understand the salary structure of your present company.
4. Take the last 6 months' attendance and raw salary sheet and start processing the salary.
5. Cross-check your output with the actual; I am sure you can become an expert.
Keep in mind never to repeat the mistakes you made earlier.
With Best Regards,

Unless you find another job in a company better than this one, I suggest you play smart and have patience. Learn and explore yourself to complete your tasks effectively. Do not leave the organization unless you have another option. You can find help from within the organization or seek assistance from the internet or a colleague.
Conduct a detailed research about the roles and responsibilities of the specific post in your organization. Then, learn and practice to effectively complete your tasks. Colleagues, Google, and YouTube can really help.
Have patience and act smart.

As an HR fresher, I have been working as an intern for six months in a reputed company. I have completed my interview with the company, but I have not received any feedback on the results. Every day, I find myself simply sitting in the office with no assigned work. Despite my efforts to request training, they are not providing me with any tasks. I am feeling extremely frustrated. What should I do in this situation? Am I wasting my time here? Please, can someone suggest a course of action?

Dear Colleague,
The Human Resource Department is a multi-task department, ranging from start-ups to big companies. The Human Resource team plays various roles, such as:
1) Implementing HR Policies and Procedures
2) Strategizing for action
3) Recruitment
4) Training and Development
5) Manpower Planning
6) Compensation (Payroll)
7) Managing Domestic Rules and Legal Compliance
8) Conducting HR Audits
9) Ensuring Statutory Compliance, etc.
You have been assigned the Payroll. If your performance improves next time, additional responsibilities will be given to you. Focus on your work as every assignment is essential. Delays in work can be detrimental. Learning will help you grow both your earning potential and relationships. Sometimes, you may face difficult tasks, but consider them as opportunities to excel and do your best.

Dear,
Greetings!!
You should always be ready for new learning. As you are an HR person, what if your company deploys you in the Payroll division? That is a core function of the HR domain. You should either enjoy the work or consider leaving the HR field to do some clerical work.
