Hi all,
One of our ex-employees left us due to health issues. We withheld his salary for two months (April & May) and processed his PF during his leave days, anticipating his return. Unfortunately, he did not come back, and we recorded his exit date in PF records as March. This discrepancy has caused confusion, and he is unable to withdraw his PF.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve this issue?

EPF is deducted on the actual salary paid or payable, and similarly, the ECR is based on this factor only. Therefore, if an EPF payment is made, it implies that the individual was entitled to salary, regardless of the reason (even paid leaves are subjected to EPF).
Dear Friend,
1. What exactly is the error that shows up when withdrawing his PF? Please mention.
2. You can correct the exit date. Just write a letter to EPFO on your company letterhead stating "Dislodging exit dates from member portal" and submit it to the EDP department. Once EPFO dislodges the exit date, then mention the correct one.
