You have two queries - Payroll based on a piece rate and Attendance Record. For any organization, the basic discipline is to keep attendance of the employees, which is also necessary for several statutory records. I hope your organization already has a system in place; otherwise, consider implementing an attendance system - Manual, Electronic, Biometric, etc. Attendance is essential to capture the total hours of work per day for overtime (OT) purposes.
The payroll process for piece-rate employees is calculated as the number of pieces produced in a month multiplied by the rate. The question now is how to allocate this amount into different categories like Basic, HRA, etc., to ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity, etc. It would be beneficial if the piece rate is divided into different categories as mentioned earlier. If laborers work more than the statutory hours on any day or week, they will also be eligible for overtime pay at double the rate.
