Dear colleague,
It is still relevant for sweated labor/unorganized workers/contingent workers who are not paid even subsistence wages, let alone minimum wages under the law. They are deprived of many basic amenities and have to work long hours, besides being subjected to several injustices at workplaces.
In the organized sector, the wage levels, fringe benefits, and working conditions have far improved through TU presence, and therefore their influence is waning.

It is always relevant and important. As long as low wages and harsh working conditions continue in different surreptitious manners, the need for trade unions exists. However, the union activity needs to go overboard, which would help increase their visibility and sustain support.
