Hi, I'm serving notice period and I noticed that my PAN card is not linked to UAN. I tried doing it, and the error was PAN verification failed due to a name mismatch. The name on Aadhar is Veronica A, bank account is under Veronica A, and UAN also shows Veronica A. However, in PAN card, it is mentioned as Arvind Kumar Veronica.
My doubt is if I change my name to Veronica in the PAN card, will it match to link PAN in the UAN portal as the PAN card will not accept initials? Please suggest.

Your thinking is like cutting your foot to match the shoe. Don't do that. PAN data can be amended by filing an application for correction in the PAN data. When all other source documents are as 'Venonica A', you shouldn't go all out to change other documents. Better stick to what is in your basic documents like SSLC and other educational certificates as these are very fundamental documents for any purpose. It's always possible when filling an online form that the first name, middle name, and last name are retyped as they appear on printed smart cards like the PAN Card. It's not difficult to amend the PAN to be in line with other source/basic documents. Use the attached format in this link (online submission also possible): [https://www.tin-nsdl.com/downloads/pan/download/Request%20for%20New%20PAN%20Card%20or%20%20and%20C hanges%20or%20Correction%20in%20PAN%20Data%20Form. pdf](https://www.tin-nsdl.com/downloads/pan/download/Request%20for%20New%20PAN%20Card%20or%20%20and%20C hanges%20or%20Correction%20in%20PAN%20Data%20Form. pdf)

Hi,
Thanks for the information. I'm still confused. Could you please help me? I went to the PAN office to change my name as per my Aadhar card (Veronica A), but the PAN officer told me that they won't accept initials on the PAN card. Therefore, my initial "A" should be abbreviated as Arvind (my dad's name), or they are asking me to change my name in Aadhar to Veronica. Please advise.

I think you are worried too much for nothing. In the circumstances, a simple solution, as you first opted, is to make an application for a change in the PAN card saying only "VERNOICA," i.e., without the initial. I think that won't create any problem for you. After all, the PAN number doesn't change, so you can retain other documents without any alteration. I hope this will suit you.

Hi Veronica,
I wish to inform you that my PAN card has my name printed with initials. I am unsure how to address the issue you are experiencing, but please proceed with amending your PAN details.
Please note that the form I previously sent you, specifically box No.1, instructs you to specify how you want your name to appear on the PAN card. Reflect on what you input in your application. I am concerned that you may have requested it to be printed as "Arvind Kumar Veronica." You are in the best position to confirm this.
Kind regards,

Actually, I am also facing the same issue since all my documents say M. Sangeetha, but my PAN has "Sangeetha Muniswamy" because it doesn't allow you to write initials. Even though I can get it printed with as many initials on the card, registration is not allowed with the initials. Now, UAN and Aadhar are linked, but PAN is not, hence I am stuck. I think only offline will sort it out.
Hi Sangeetha,
I am facing the exact same issue that you have been facing. Were you able to solve the issue? Please let me know. I have searched all over online and offline and haven't found any solution yet.

PAN authority always writes the full name on the PAN Card, but Aadhaar and EPFO accept short names, which is causing problems. To resolve this, correct the name on Aadhaar to match the PAN Card first. Then, apply to EPFO to update the name based on the corrected Aadhaar and PAN details. Additionally, ensure that your date of birth and father's name are consistent across all documents.

Dear Raju,
When the PAN database name mismatches with the EPF database name, we need to submit a PAN copy attested by the Employer to the EPF office immediately. This helps to avoid deduction of higher TDS (34%).
Thank you.
