Hello everyone,

I have a query regarding Sandwich leave. My query is that I am off on Saturday and Sunday, as they are my days off, and on Monday and Tuesday, they are public holidays. I will be rejoining work on Wednesday.

My HR department has informed me that this situation is considered Sandwich leave. Could you please confirm if this is correct or not? Your assistance in clarifying this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

No, this is not correct. Sandwich leave is considered only in the case if someone is absent before and after any week off or public holiday. In your case, you worked on Friday before your leaves (hope I am right here) and you worked on Wednesday after your leaves. So your week-offs and holiday leaves are not covering both ends. Therefore, this will not be counted as sandwich leave.

Hi everyone, I have a query regarding sandwich leave.

I will be on leave from the 23rd to the 25th of October, and the 26th to the 30th are Diwali holidays. So, I will also take leave on the 31st. Additionally, I will be on leave on the 1st and 2nd of November. Is this considered sandwich leave?

My boss mentioned that it is included in sandwich leave. However, from my perspective, sandwich leave should include weekends like Sunday if someone takes leave before and after the weekend. Also, considering that the month changes, with the 1st and 2nd leaves falling into November.
