Hi Sir,

I absconded from a BPO company 5 months ago, but I have not yet received any absconding letter. Will there be any issues if I join another company? They have stopped depositing my salary into my account but have not sent me any formal absconding notification.

Would I be considered to have dual employment or face any other consequences? And how would dual employment affect my career?

Please assist me. Thank you.

If you are not sure whether you have absconded or not, and you haven't received any letter or salary from the company, you can send a resignation email to the previous HR and then join another company. All the best...

Dear Anony,

As you have not received any letter from the employer, there may be a possibility that you are still on their payroll as an inactive employee rather than marked as exited. This situation may create an issue if your new employer proceeds with your background verification. Why don't you send them a formal resignation now and request a relieving letter?

Dual employment can lead to the termination of one's services!

Rahul

Hi, sir,

I joined in March 2018 and absconded from Genpact company in June 2018. Now, I have received a letter stating that I need to pay rupees 43,000/- to them, or they will take legal action against me. After absconding, I informed my manager that I was leaving. I also sent an email to my manager stating, "I have absconded from your organization and am requesting a relieving letter." Unfortunately, the manager did not reply to me.

Genpact is now asking me to pay 43,000 rupees, which I do not have. I am currently working in a different BPO company, having joined in January 2019. The background verification process has not been completed in this new company, and I have not disclosed anything about my previous employment.

I am concerned whether my current company will find out about my previous employment details. If they do, what consequences will I face? If I do not pay the amount demanded by Genpact, could it negatively impact my career, considering they have threatened legal action against me?

Kindly review the attachment sent to me from Genpact.

Thank you.

Dear Friend,

As an HR professional, I believe that if you want to leave a company, you should follow the company's procedures because absconding in such a manner demonstrates unprofessionalism towards your employment. Just imagine, if you have the opportunity to work at one of the best companies in India, and they conduct a background check only to discover that you absconded from your previous employment, it will negatively impact your chances for the best career opportunities.

Please ensure you adhere to proper procedures when considering leaving a company. It is important to maintain a professional image throughout your career.

Best regards,
