I wanted the Dos & Don’t for all Decentralisation activities and not SOP. Some Pointers which will help them to follow a stand process how to go about doing a particular process.

Your query is very broad. You could have given a little background information like the nature of your industry, your finished product, etc. Secondly, how old is your company, and would you like to introduce decentralization across the board or restrict it to certain departments only? Whose powers will be decentralized? Because of decentralization, will someone get antagonized? What if that person assumes power through the backdoor?

Decentralization is a good management initiative. However, decentralization demands the delegation of powers. Delegation of powers demands understanding the capabilities of the juniors. If juniors were always expected to be obedient in executing the orders of the top boss, and all of a sudden, if you decentralize, will it create problems?

Before decentralization, have you trained juniors on "Decision-Making Skills"? How have you tested their decision-making capabilities? Is the length of service in your company the sole criterion for the decentralization move?

Decentralization cannot be the goal. It is supposed to be the outcome of a Leadership Development Programme (LDP). What initiatives has your company taken to develop leaders? Again, mere conducting training on leadership development is not sufficient. A lot of leadership training happens in IT companies, but not many leaders are actually developed. A classic example is Infosys. Though they have a Leadership Development Institute, they had to hire an outsider for the position of CEO, not just once but twice!
