Hi All,

One of my friends had to leave an organization due to underperformance. His team didn't perform well, and hence he was asked to leave. This happened 10 years ago (2006). Since then, he has worked in three other organizations.

Now, my friend has applied to an organization, and his Background Check (BGC) is in progress. I have a question: Do organizations disclose the reasons for leaving during a BGC? To my knowledge, only the employee's name, employee code, start and end dates, and designation details are provided to third-party organizations that conduct BGCs.

Please let me know if you have any insights on this matter. Thank you.

Background checks are not standard at all. Every organization has its own criteria for conducting checks, and it may differ based on roles, functions, etc. There is no certainty whether that particular employment and other details will be included in the background verification or not.

Hi Annon,

Usually, the last two employments are considered for background checks. You, therefore, do not have to worry. On the other hand, it would be better for you to openly discuss with the HR of the new company and honestly tell him the truth. I am sure this will be much appreciated and will also put your mind at ease.
