I resigned from a startup during my probation period. However, a sketchy clause in the service agreement states that I have to work with them for one year from the date of joining, and they demand 3 months of CTC as compensation. I have denied them this payment, and now they have marked me as absconding.

As per the service agreement, I am not liable to a notice period as I was still on probation. Will this sketchy clause cause any trouble in my future and my career? Please help as I am looking forward to starting with an MNC.

How long did you work there? What exactly did the exit clause state? Kindly reproduce the same words for better understanding.

Sketchy or non-sketchy clauses bind one who has worked and signed as accepting. Please provide specific details of the service agreement. You can upload the concerned clauses for better understanding.

Finally, one bit of advice - do not address members in the forum as "HEY". You need to show more respect.

Hi,

I resigned from a startup during my probation period. It is your choice. But a sketchy clause in the service agreement states that I have to work with them for one year from the date of joining, and they demand 3 months of CTC as compensation. Why did you not read that sketchy clause before signing the Appointment Letter? But I have denied them this payment. It is your choice. Now they have marked me as absconding. It must be the company's practice.

As per the service agreement, I am not liable to a notice period as I was still on probation. How did you come to this conclusion? Will this sketchy clause be of any trouble in my future and my career? Sure, if they put any litigation against you then.

Please help as I am looking forward to starting with an MNC. It is your choice.

Hey,

Please elaborate on the clauses, especially the sketchy one, of your Service Agreement with the startup. Yes, there is a probability that this might affect your career in the future as a ghost from the past. It is always recommended to keep a clean employment history.
