I am working with a private concern, and after appraisal, my salary increased from 18580 to 20798 in April 2018. My salary, after deductions, comes out to be 20798 Rs. According to HR, my gross increased to more than 21000. Now, I am going to confirm until when my ESIC amount will be deducted from my salary or if it has already ceased starting from April 2018.

Hi Vijay, Closing option gets enabled in the month of April and October. Your contribution would have ended if your gross salary per month exceeds 21000

Dear Vijay ji,

What I understood is that in the month of April 2018, your salary was increased, and you earned a net amount of Rs. 20,798. Net earnings do not represent your salary; the gross amount is your actual salary. It appears that your gross salary is more than Rs. 21,000.

If indeed your gross salary in April 2018 exceeded Rs. 21,000, then starting from April 2018, you should no longer be covered under ESI. In both April and October, if the gross salary is above Rs. 21,000, the employee gets removed from ESI coverage.

Thank you.
