If the salary is paid by ESI, then the employer is not liable for PF contribution. If the employee is not covered under ESI, and the employer is paying maternity leave, then as per the other leave, the employer is liable to pay PF contribution.

1.A) If the salary is paid through ESI, then the employer need not pay any PF contribution.

1.B) If the employee is not under ESI and the employer is paying the maternity benefits, what will be the PF contribution? Does the employer have to contribute to PF during the maternity leave period? - Yes, the employer has to pay the contribution as the employee is on maternity leave and you will be processing the salary. The contribution will be the same as the regular contribution.
