Please advise on how I can transfer my ESIC contributions from my new account to my old account. I already have an ESIC account, but my new company created a new ESIC account from February 2017. My previous company did not deduct ESIC because my salary exceeded the criteria. However, as per the new law, they deducted ESIC in January 2017 and created the account. In February, I joined the new company, and they created another new account. Now, the issue is that I need to claim maternity leave.
What should I do in this case?
According to my company, I must complete nine months of service with them for the claim, and my confinement date is next month. It is essential that I can only take leave if it falls under ESIC. Without ESIC, I have no rights to take leave from them. Please help and advise.

ESIC Contribution Transfer Process
As per the ESIC Act, any changes in an employee's residence, dispensary, or employment can be carried out by the employer in the Portal as and when they arise.
- The ESIC contribution transfer form is used to transfer the ESIC contribution of an insured person from one ESIC IP number to another. This form is generally required when the same person has two ESI numbers. This usually happens when an insured person changes jobs and does not inform their new employer of their previous ESIC IP number. Consequently, the new employer generates another IP number for the same insured person.
- According to Employee State Insurance Corporation rules and regulations, only one IP number will be given to every employee in their lifetime. Any additional IP numbers generated after the first will be considered duplicates.
- The identification of duplicate IP numbers by the ESIC website may take some days to months. Only the employer can identify duplicate IP numbers in their employer ESI portal. When an insured person's present IP number becomes a duplicate, it will appear in green, and the original IP number will appear in brackets on the ESIC Portal. In such cases, the employer cannot make payments to the duplicate IP number. The employer must register the original IP number of that person again in their ESI portal to make payments.
Steps to Transfer ESIC Contribution
Now, the entire contribution made to the duplicate IP number will become useless until the ESIC contribution transfer form is filled out and submitted. On this form, mention the insured person's original and duplicate IP numbers, obtain employer attestation, and submit it to the ESIC regional office. Within 30 days, your ESIC contribution will be transferred from the duplicate IP number to the original IP number.
