Salary is not been paid, its been 20th day. What actions can be taken against the employer.

If your company manpower is less than 1000, it is legally require to pay by 7th day of the following month. You will be legally correct if lodge written complaint with the labour office of your office. Just not to hurt your employer write letter signed by few employees requesting him pay the salary within 3 working days as it is overdue. if possible obtain signature on it. If this doesn't happen, write official letter labour office with a copy to employer.

you surely can make a complaint to labour officer or can send a legal notice through counsel but it can bitter your relation with the employer, alternatively you can wait for few more days or can talk to employer directly.

1. If you take any action or go against employer, then your relations with your employer will definitely get spoiled.
2. You can approach the Labour Officer of the area having jurisdiction over your company and make a complaint to him for default in payment of salary by your employer.
3. You can engage an advocate who deals in service matters & send a legal notice to the employer directly.
4. Your employer can be fined by the authorities, if they file a case, he can even go to prison, but this happens in rarest of the rare cases.
