My name is Siddhi Bhavsar. I am from Ahmedabad. Sir, I want to know if the new amended maternity leave benefits are applicable in my case or not.

I became pregnant in June 2016, and my baby was born on January 30, 2017, so currently, I am on leave. I work in the office of "The Bar Council of Gujarat" in the state of Gujarat. I have submitted an application to be granted maternity leave based on the new amended maternity leave benefits for 26 weeks with pay. However, my establishment has not approved my application nor provided any pay during this period.

What can I do to receive these benefits? Please provide me with some guidance or advice. I am hopeful for a positive response.

Hello sir,

I was on bed rest due to my ill health, so I went on leave from August 2016 on Leave Without Pay (LWP) until my baby was born. After my baby was born on 30th Jan 2017, I applied for maternity leave starting from the same day for 26 weeks with pay, as per the new amendment for maternity leave benefits.

My establishment granted me LWP leave from August 2016 to 30th Jan 2017 but did not approve my 26 weeks maternity leave with pay starting from the day my baby was born.
