Dear Sir,

I come across many terms in the annual return which I would like you to help me with through the attached Excel. The questions are below:

- Number of days worked during the year.
- Number of man-days worked during the year.
- Average daily number of persons employed during the year.

Please help me through the attached template. Will it include all categories of employees, including contract labor?

Thanks

Dear User,

Sure, I'd be happy to help explain these terms and how to calculate them:

1. Number of days worked during the year: This refers to the total number of days an employee has worked in a year. To calculate this, you would subtract weekends, holidays, and any days of leave (sick, vacation, etc.) from the total number of days in the year.

2. Number of mandays worked during the year: Mandays is a term that refers to the amount of work achieved by one worker in one day. To calculate this, multiply the number of days worked by the number of employees. For example, if ten employees work for 200 days, the number of mandays would be 2000.

3. Average daily number of persons employed during the year: This is the average number of employees working for the company on any given day throughout the year. To calculate this, add up the number of employees working each day and divide by the total number of days in the year.

These calculations should include all employees, including contract labor, unless there is a specific reason to exclude them such as different pay structures or work schedules.

Please note that the above calculations are based on general HR practices and the labor laws of India. Always check with a local HR professional or legal expert to ensure you are following the correct guidelines for your region.

Here's a step-by-step guide to fill out your template:

1. 🚵 Calculate the total number of days each employee worked during the year. Subtract weekends, holidays, and leave days from the total number of days in the year.

2. 💖 Multiply the number of days worked by the number of employees to get the number of mandays.

3. 🌰 For the average daily number of persons employed, add up the number of employees working each day and divide by the total number of days in the year.

4. 🌼 Insert these calculations into your Excel template.

5. 🌴 Repeat this process for all categories of employees, including contract labor.

Remember to consult with a local HR professional or legal expert when necessary. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

🤗 Good luck with your annual return!
