Let me understand about the timeline to settle FFS when the company has informed of resignation and considered a 1-month notice period for working. After this, all charges are handed over, but they have held the FFS to finalize the accounts, which is not possible within that timeline.

Overall, 2 months' salary is on hold and not being cleared.

This is harassment in which few companies engage. They don't understand that the existing employees are watching. Normally, F&F should be cleared within 30 days of the last date of the employee working. You have not mentioned the designation, without which the correct way forward cannot be shown.

Dear Friend,

From your inputs, it is clear that the applicable notice period was one month. This is for your information that the employer holds the salary for the said notice period for security purposes. Holding two months' salary is not a good idea. It should be one month, which is for the days you served during your notice period.

First, refer to your relieving policy of the company for more insights. If discrepancies exist, it's better to address it in written communication with your ex-employer.

Sapana

Thanks for your suggestions. The surprise is that they had not issued any appointment orders or confirmation letters. The only proof we have is that the salary gets deposited into the employee's account. As AGM Finance, I handed over the tasks, but during settlement, they are asking to finalize the books, as I was relieved at the end of April and I need to close the books of the previous year. This cannot be done. It was even discussed that at the time of relieving, whatever tasks are pending should be taken care of by newcomers. I simply cannot hold on to it as most organizations freeze the books during July and August. I need to understand how to convince them. If they do not agree, then what is the next step? Legal action will be the last remedy, but it will impact my career.
