Current Career Situation
I am a single female in my early 30s, working as a Business Development Executive with an online portal, earning 25k per month, which I find very dissatisfying. I completed my MBA in finance in my mid-20s from a decent B-school, but I never pursued a suitable job, undervaluing my degree due to personal problems at the time. If I had valued my degree then, I might be earning 70k to 1 lakh per month and possibly holding a designation like Deputy Manager or VP by now.
Career Path and Challenges
Initially, I was not selected for a couple of jobs, so I accepted the first job in a BPO. This continued for the next few years, and I worked with a renowned telecommunications company in India as an operations executive in their outsourcing department (BPO). During my tenure with the last few organizations, I could not climb the hierarchy, so whenever I switched jobs, I would not get a managerial designation. My skills in finance decayed over time, and now my interest in finance has completely vanished.
New Interests and Skills
Over time, I have developed an interest in digital marketing, e-commerce, content writing, blogging, branding, and PR. My current role is in international sales, where I excel in communication with international clients. I see myself as suitable for any branding, advertising, or marketing agency. However, while I am now confident in my personality, I can't find a way to reach the management level of my or any organization and pursue my interests in digital marketing, branding, advertising, and marketing communications. I aspire to work with a creative agency as part of their higher management, where I could demonstrate my skills in communications, strategy, digital marketing, and branding. However, my current skills are only at an entry-level in digital marketing and branding.
Skills and Personal Development
Regarding skills, I am very good with marketing communications and content writing. I have also completed the Landmark Forum and many other courses related to human behavior and communication with Landmark Worldwide and am currently undergoing a leadership program with them. I also own a startup publication house where, with the help of consultants in printing and marketing, I encourage poets to get their poetry published and provide poets and writers a platform to showcase their skills. It is still in the early stages and will take some time to develop.
Career Aspirations and Advice Needed
What should I do to reach the management level of any big corporate or creative agency, having all my areas of interest included in my role? How should I present myself to companies so they directly consider me as a senior professional and give me a break in digital marketing or branding? Additionally, I am keen to work in foreign countries like Australia, the USA, Germany, and the Netherlands if I can get a break in the above fields and secure a direct work visa. Please advise me, as I am really at a career crisis. I studied well, but due to low confidence, I ended up with mediocre jobs.
