Dear Seniors,

I am working as an IT Executive in a VLSI company for 4 years in Bhubaneswar. Now, the company is planning to close operations in Bhubaneswar. All the engineering team employees have been directed to relocate to other offices (Kolkata, Bangalore, and Hubli) by the end of December 2016.

However, my manager from the IT team informed me that there are no available positions for me in any of the other three locations. He suggested that I search for alternative arrangements and submit my resignation promptly so that the company can relieve me of all responsibilities by December 31, 2016. My current notice period is 90 days.

When I expressed my concerns about the abrupt nature of the exit request, given my 4 years of service, and the challenges of finding a new job within the short timeframe, he mentioned the possibility of compensating me with an extra month's salary if I am unable to secure a job by December 2016.

My primary goal is to secure a new job within the stipulated period. However, I would appreciate guidance on how to navigate this situation to ensure financial stability. Additionally, I would like advice on any potential legal implications of this situation and the best approach to handle it.

Thank you for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Dear Saurendra,

First, check your terms of appointment as per the appointment letter. There must be a notice period clause in the appointment letter. The notice period usually varies from one month to three months. Look for a job and consider taking the additional one-month pay they are offering.

Hi Saurendra,

I don't think there is an option for you now. If they are ready to pay you for the notice period and a month extra, then I would suggest you to take that up. If you raise this issue, they may take a hard call, which could worsen your condition.

Dear Saurendra,

As our seniors suggested you search for other options, that is only better for you. You have already mentioned that you have 4 years of experience, so if you search seriously, you will surely get a job soon. Don't worry about that; start trying from now itself.

We all wish you the best, and soon you will get a good job.
