Dear All,

The trend of labor issues/unrest is changing in our country. Earlier, wage increase, long-term settlement, and inter-union rivalry were the main issues. However, in the last 5 to 10 years, the industrial scenario has completely changed. We have observed that external forces/outsiders are creating nuisance among laborers, trying to showcase their importance, and then negotiating with the employers/management for their vested interests.

How can we take corrective and preventative action to avoid such unwanted pressure, minimize/control their negotiation power, and increase the welfare of the workforce? Kindly share your thoughts!

Sir,

In reference to your pressing practical IR concerns in today's industry, we will need to implement several proactive measures to avoid such IR issues at the factory. These measures could include enhancing the training or awareness of blue-collar workers on Industrial Relations, ensuring timely compliance, adhering to salary distribution as per the act and on time, and maintaining a permanent versus contract labor engagement ratio of 65-35%.

Additionally, fostering open communication at all levels will play a vital role in keeping external individuals away from the organization.

Please find attached a very informative article on the changing landscape of Industrial Relations.
