Hi - I have been working since last 15 years and my PF is getting deducted since last 14 years. I have never stayed in any company beyond 9 years max. I have filled a PF withdrawal form. Will I also get EPS withdrawn or will i get service certificate. The rule I suppose says I should be in EPS for less than 10 years to get refund however does not state if less than 10 years from the same company or even with different companies. I have in the past always got my PF transferred however this time have given a withdrawal request.

Team - Someone please help with the same. Rules around EPS are very vague and difficult to understand.

The period of 9 years refers to the total period during which the PF account is active. So since you have been active for 15 years, you are eligible for pension and can't take the money in lump sum.
You can not withdraw the pf amount unless you have decided not to work any more. In all other cases you need to transfer the pf to another employer

Thank you Saswata. In that case I suppose the PF office will send me some pension certificate at my registered postal address.

While we submit PF Withdrawal Form, there are some options in the form regarding Pension amount/period. If you have chosen to take Scheme Certificate, you will get the certificate.
When you will come to age of getting the pension, that time you have to submit the certificate to PF office alongwith other processes (formalities) . On basis of the certificate and other documents you will get the pension. However, if in your present job, or in future job you are covered under PF, you can add the Pension Fund in existing PF. By doing so the Pension period and Pension Wages will be included in your current PF, which will strong your case for Pension Amount.
Pls note, the suggestion/s are on basis of my experiences and other comments on the topic.

Dear Anonymous,
The 10 yrs of service will count even in different companies but under same UAN.
If you have worked 9 yrs in one company and joined new company with same UAN even though PF no. differs. Total service can be counted as 14 yrs, you are eligible for Pension and you cannot withdraw EPS amount. But if you have two UAN no.s. in two different companies, you can withdraw your EPS amount also, since the service (9yrs) is not continued in new company and it is less than 10 yrs. So you are not eligible for Pension.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Prathap,
Previously there was no concept of UAN so I had different PF nos. for different PF accounts. Since UAN was introduced, I have worked in the same company for 8 yrs 10 months before lleaving the Job. In that case you think I will get the EPS amount? If yes do i need to do anything apart from filling the required forms and send it to them which I have already done?
Thank you.

Dear Anonymous,
Even though UAN concept is not there previously, for all PF no.s UAN will be allotted. You last company PF no. will have UAN no. You can check it in the below link. http://uanmembers.epfoservices.in/check_uan_status.php by entering required details. I think you will have two UAN no.s now. So please follow the same process of PF withdrawal.Form-19, Form 10C, along with Aadhaar & cancelled cheque with your name printed on it. Please call me if you need any other clarification.
Thanks&Regards
