40-48 hours a week is compulsory for any work, which is practiced by universally.
However, in practical, this may take additional an hour or so, depends upon work, but beyond this period for clerical/labour level eligible for Overtime work.
Supervisor and Managerial staff can get perquisites instead of overtime as per company policy or his boss's descretion.
Hope this clarifies

in india it is maximum 48 hours in a week. if company is working in 24x7 basis so shifts will be 8hr(including lunch) basis and for day 9hr(including lunch) basis. lunch should be after 5 hr of continues working but we cant force employee to work more than 6hr continuously. lunch should be for 30min minimum. overtime will be double of actual wages but for managerial level there is no limit of work.
