Can you please help us out with an information on one statutory requirement.
Is ESI applicable to the staff working under the category of Old age Homes in Karnataka.

1. Sir, Old Age Homes, if charging for accommodation and getting fees etc. will, in my opinion, qualify to be as "shop" and hence can be coverable under ESI Act, 1948 and rules/regulations framed thereunder. Notification issued by the State Govt. of Karnataka under section 1(5) of said Act can also be referred to (which is generally available on the website of Regional Office etc. of ESIC).
2. It will be more better if you contact the appropriate officer in ESI Regional/Sub-Regional Office of ESIC, submit complete facts of the establishment in which you are working for their decision whether the same qualify for coverage under said Act.

How many employees are working in the old age home? In my opinion ESIC scheme should be applicable to employees of the old age home.
