The Success Mantra
- Janani Prakaash
Allen was a man who was seeing continuous failures in life. When one speaks to him he quotes incidences of only failure, distress and hopelessness in his life! While on the other side, Steve, twin brother of Allen was a highly successful person. He always talks of possibilities out of the impossibilities. His approach on anything was with full of optimism. People loved to be with him.
One may get questions like how can there be such a huge difference between Allen and Steve. Born to the same parents on the same day, both of them have been brought up with no disparity. They were given equal love, respect and education by their parents. Then why Allen¡¦s life is so called ¡¥failure¡¦ while Steve¡¦s was with full of possibilities!
Every one of us encounter such situations in our families or in our friend circle or in the corporate world. Is one successful because he/ she ought to be due to destiny or is there something else that drives a person to it? Do successful people get circumstances of their choice or they adopt some technique to handle what they get? Triumph does not come easily to everyone. It comes to those who understand the ¡¥sutra¡¦ behind obtaining it. What is the sutra? How can this help people? Inquisitive ones.. find it. Thought is the answer. It is the mantra of success, it is the leader within. Our life is the way we think of it. If we know to tune our thoughts, we can take control over our lives instead of the other way round. Our thought is the ruler of our life!
Linking to our story of Allen and Steve, Allen was wrong with the basic outlook that he had towards life. He lacked perseverance, patience and the positive outlook to deal with the various situations that he encountered in his life while Steve had all of these. Now one might pose a question as to how ¡¥thought¡¦ is linked to all of these! Let¡¦s see Steve¡¦s way of handling tough situations to understand this link.
Steve got a job which was not his ¡¥cup of tea¡¦. He felt that the people in his team were unfriendly. His environment was not motivating. He had absolutely a hopeless situation in his new organization. Steve could have chosen to be a quitter or a winner. He chose to be the second one. How did he become what he wanted to be?
First like any human being, Steve got depressed about what he has got. He went into the mode of self pity, feeling ¡§why all these are happening only to me!¡¨ But suddenly he realized that instead of sitting and cribbing about the present why not he change his thoughts to look at the present as a ¡¥present¡¦. He changed his perspective of looking at the entire situation. Steve, sat down, took time to think as to how he can deal with the situation. His main aim was to get rid of the suffocation that he was suffering with, due to job dissatisfaction. He prioritized his action items. His first aim was to become strong on the relationship front. He started thinking and visualizing as if his team was friendly and open minded. He viewed a colourful and motivating work environment in his mind while he came to office everyday. He realized that his thoughts determine his actions. Slowly things started converting to his way. He was able to gain the acceptance of his team soon as he started changing his thoughts. He was open enough to tell his team about the ways through which he wants to add colours to his job. In very few days, like in his previous organizations, people started looking at him as a successful person.
The illustration of Steve gives us the sutra of how winners reach the pinnacle of glory. A quitter like Allen would have either given up at the first stage or settled in the company propagating negativity to his environment. Some lessons:-
„Ï Winners don¡¦t become what they are due to luck or circumstance. They convert circumstances to their way and become lucky!
„Ï Successful people are the ones who go through a lot of hardship before they attain their actual objective.
„Ï Last but not the least successful people create a lot of change in themselves and tune their thoughts in accordance to the need!
