Hi all, I have to resign in the next month, November. However, as per company policy, a 3-month notice period is mandated to be served. If anyone serves a one-month notice period, then they will be entitled to receive their two months' basic salary. In my case, I am not able to pay two months' salary due to financial problems and also not able to serve more than a one-month notice period. Please suggest what should I do. Is there any way to reduce my notice period from 3 months to 1 month?

Please answer some of my queries. Firstly, are you a confirmed employee? If not, then you are not required to serve a notice period. If you are confirmed, then you have to serve a notice period as per your appointment letter. If the appointment letter states a 3-month notice period, then you must adhere to it.
In this situation, the best course of action would be to have a discussion with your HR and your Head of Department to kindly release you from your duties without any notice period.

Even though Saji gave his response with a bit of sarcasm, frankly, he has hit the nail on the head. But there's one odd thing in your posting. You mentioned 'I have to resign in nxt month Nov'—what does this mean? Are you expecting an offer in Nov? Please clarify this aspect.
The only way, as Khanolkar mentioned, is to sweet-talk your boss/HR... but here too, it depends a lot on the actual reason(s) for your resignation. Please rest assured that HR will see through your game if you give false reasons. It will also depend on your workload that needs to be transferred to another employee... if it's high, the chances are bleak.

My intention was not to make any sarcasm, but I have noticed that here (in this forum) few members would like to find shortcut methods to alleviate their worries. Members do not even try to convince their HR/Seniors/HOD about their inability to serve the notice period or pay, but they want to exit by any means. Members fail to understand that the forum can only provide knowledge and the right path; expecting wrong means is a prevailing wrong practice. Once again, sorry if this has hurt anybody.
