Hi All, Would seek your assistance as one of my near aquaintances has been terminated from a big MNC due to inadvertently sending out some confidential information on email (breach of DLP policy) after diligently working for the employer for 2.5 years. Would would be her future job prospects, do organizations (esp. bigger ones like IBM, Wipro, Cognizant etc.) would consider her for employment or do they have defined policies against previously terminated employees. Kindly assist as the person in question is a honest, upright and hard-working girl. Thanks in anticipation.

Dear Facilitator,
Reply to your query would depend on the nature of discharge from the previous employment. Has your acquaintance been issued with service-cum-employment certificate? If yes, then what reason they have mentioned for discharge from the service? If the discharge certificate is neutral i.e. neither positive nor negative remarks then getting job should not be a problem.
Many times MNCs tell the employees to put in the papers when they discover the breach of security guidelines. Did they tell her to put in papers or they conducted domestic enquiry?
Thanks,

Thanks a ton dinesh for your prompt reply.
She was terminated after the organization conducting internal forensics. She has got her experience letter however was not issued a relieving letter. As such, Experience letter is neutral but anyways, if a prospective employer does a BGV, they would know it was a case of involuntary exit, wouldn't they?
Again, would like to reiterate my query, does she stand a chance of being gainfully employed with MNCs (esp. the bigger ones) if she shows this experience in her resume.
Any assistance is much appreciated and your advice might help an individual salvage her career.

In case of termination for breach of confidentiality, her chance of getting a job in a MNC of similar nature is bleak. I assume she was in a banking related bpo. They are required to conduct very detailed verification and anyone with breach history will be rejected or terminated in discovery.
In addition, this may even be reported in the NASSCOM database.
On the other hand, if the existing organisation does not with to record the breach because it will create a legal liability for themselves, then she is safe.
She won't know till she tries. Or she can change to a stream where this problem is not there

Dear Facilitator,
Nothing wrong in applying to any MNC big or small, she already got experience certificate. During the interview she may tell the truth to HR to avoid any inconvenience in future whether that company does BGV or not. Try and hope for the best.

Sarfaraz
