Hello HR Gurus!
I'm working with a small software development company.
From october we want to implement a salary structure.
I want to know if our company has registed for P.T in the month of september. So, from when onwards the company is liable to deduct P.T from the salary of employees?
Secondly is it required to deduct the P.T for all those months ie. from April to Aug. for which salary was paid without any Profession Tax deduction?
Pls throw light on this query.
It is really urgent as i have to talk with the management about the same.
Waiting for the inputs..................

Dear Revathy,
From day one of your company started you have to pay the professional Tax. If you have not recovered from the employees recover it now and pay it for the past period with marginal penalty of 1%.
Apr- Sep to be paid by 15th Sep to the corporation authorities. Of course unofficial dead line is 30th Sep.
In the same way Oct-Mar to be paid by 15th March. Of course unofficial dead line is 31st March.
You have to pay company tax also alongwith P.T. as per the paidup capital of your comapny. ranging from Rs.200/- to Rs.1000/-.
As company's contribution of P.T., the company has to pay P.T.Rs.810/- for each period(apr-sep & oct-march)
For employees P.T. contribution the slab is as follows:-
The halfyearly(six months) total gross salary is the base.
upto Rs.21,000/- Nil.
Rs. 21001 to Rs.30000 Rs. 75
Rs. 30001 to Rs. 45000 Rs. 188
Rs. 45001 to Rs. 60000 Rs. 390
Rs. 60001 to Rs.75000 Rs. 585
Rs. 75001 to any lacs/crores Rs. 810
