Dear Shirley,

The dictionary meaning of the word "agenda" is "a temporally organized plan for matters to be attended to" or "A list of matters to be taken up (as at a meeting)". The third meaning is "Individual objectives or perspective".

It appears that you have confused the third meaning given above with the concept of KRA. Now let us come to the definition of KRA. Following are the definitions of KRA:

KRA is the area identified as important or crucial where a result will assist in the achievement of the set objectives or goal OR

KRA defines what a job is expected to accomplish.

KRAs are derived from the company's visions/mission, annual goal, expansion plans and so on. Therefore, KRAs are generally set by the superiors. In view of this, your Agenda cannot override KRAs. That would be risky. Theoretically, you may have your agenda on and above the department's KRAs. But then meeting both would exert you and very few will be able to fulfil double expectations, one for the senior and another for personal.

Dear Friend,

Agenda and KRA (Key Result Areas) are different. An agenda provides a picture of the function or areas to be followed, an order, or a temporarily taken-up plan. On the other hand, KRA is the goal that you have to achieve, such as a project and its key results. It specifies the areas where the expected results must be achieved, and the reasons for any deviations may differ. Therefore, there is a significant difference between an agenda and KRA. Referring to an agenda as academic excellence is completely different, as an agenda is temporary.

Best of luck...

KRA = Key Result Area.

The Board of Directors decides upon the objectives of the company and sets a period-specific target. This target becomes the KRA of the Chief Executive Officer. Then it gets divided/subdivided. Take an example of a product until it reaches the bottommost rung. KRA of each person is linked, and fulfillment of KRA will lead to the fulfillment of the objective set by the BOD. Hence, if one person fails, it will hamper the attainment of the desired result.

Take the example of a product manager and likely KRA:

It could be: Customer Satisfaction, Operational Cost Control, Quality Control, Keeping of proper documentation, etc. It can be different from company to company depending on what the Board of Directors decide.

The KRA of the CEO could be to increase production by 50% and profit by 25% in 2 years' time.

Agenda:

An agenda is a list of meeting activities in a specific order in which they will be taken up. It usually includes one or more specific items of business to be discussed. An agenda can also be called a docket or schedule.

For the example you have quoted:

Achievement of a specific educational qualification can be the KRA. While the agenda could be a series of plans and activities like studying for 3 hours, going for tuitions to achieve KRA in a series of steps.
