Hi all, I'm Gotham, working as a Recruiter in a reputed MNC for the past year.
1. Is there any higher education that I can pursue to enhance my career?
2. I received a suggestion about pursuing an MS in Operation Management. Is this the right choice? Are there any universities offering MS in Operation through distance education?
Please suggest.

Dear Dinesh,
I completed my BE in Mechanical Engineering, followed by MBA in HR and Marketing. Currently, I am working in IT Recruitment with 1 year of experience. Could you please suggest how I can further develop my career? My managers have recommended pursuing a Master of Science in Operations. Is this a good option? I am feeling uncertain about my career path and would appreciate your guidance.
Regards,
Gowtham

Dear Gowtham,
To build a career, qualification is necessary, but then you should check whether you are using what you already have. Mere accumulation of degrees will not propel you to a higher position.
The existing qualifications, i.e., BE (Mech) and MBA (HR & Marketing), are more than sufficient. Yet, you are working as an IT recruiter. Why? Is this not belittling yourself? Stop this belittlement first. Learn to live up to your qualifications. Give value to yourself. If you do not value yourself, why would others value you? If you were unable to get a job in HR, then why did you not take a chance in Marketing? What was the hold-up? If not Marketing, then you could have taken up any job that utilizes your analytical skills.
Possibly there were pressing financial needs, and you were not getting a job of your stature; hence, this compromise. But instead of compromising, you should have revisited the basics of Engineering and attended the interviews or recruitment tests with complete confidence. You may do that even now as well.
I regret that I did not mince my words while giving you career advice, but it was necessary.
All the best!

Dear friend,
It is not fortunate to be in the IT sector (recruitment) since, without clear goals, things can go haphazard. First, get to know yourself and identify your passion. Aim high for positive outcomes; in fact, feeling compelled may drive you to find your way out of initial uncertainty. Make your goals clear for where you envision yourself in the future. Take the initiative and strive for the best.
Best of luck.
