Hello Everyone,
This question was revolving in my mind since a long time.
Companies say "WE ARE HIRING"... Candidates say "NO OPPORTUNITIES".
Can anyone tell me where is the GAP?
I don't think so candidates lack in skills set as they are already prepared with courses, certifications and also complete knowledge and of-course good maturity level. Even then candidates say no opportunities.
Please share your views....

Syed: Nothing new. This is the prevalent phase in India - candidates are educated, but bookish - no real life experience. Companies don't understand recruitment needs to be skill based and not interview based, so if a candidate fails an interview the candidate says 'no opportunity'

Yes, i agree with talentsorcerer, our institute plays a very important role in building these candidates and we have been successful in doing so. I keep meeting freshers who hardly know how to introduce themselves. And today everyone wants the best out of the lot. So one needs to be competent enough to face the interview's.

Companies want candidates who are smart, flexible, adaptable, ready to work hard, willing to learn new things, ready to take additional responsibilities... Please tell me, how many youngsters these days are ready ??? Hence the gap remains between supply and demand

**** I have been working on same from past 5 years to close this GAP. Candidate slack, in-depth knowledge and real time implementation ways (practical and not just theory). They do training from various courses and use dumps to clear certification. When candidates goes for interview they get rejected because they do not have quality knowledge. I came across many highly qualified Fresh engineers/MBAs whom i have observed to be more demanding and reluctant to understand that practical experience needs.Apart from this they also need to brush up their personality and skills required for the successful entry in to corporate world.Patience perseverance and constant learning pays,Candidates in the initial years lack in these areas.We all must understand that these candidates have great potential and energy to turn the tables.But business world can not stop its work merely to allow for some one to first learn and than be productive later.Its other way round one has to be more creative,Optimistic, innovative and inteligent to fit into and be productive from day one.
One example - Many of the Fresh candidates doing ms-cit course (A Govt Approved basic computer Course) hesitate to operate computer and do not know working in word and exel properly.Lack of skill development.
On the contrary - its our new generation and we are all responsible for leveraging the best quality education and awareness to this new generation professionals.Lets hope for the best and creative team building inspite of all the so called GAPs.

This is my personal view based on my own experience and observation of others. Most people never attempt self-introspection about their potentialities and simply view education as a mere source of employment. Of course in modern times where the society comprises of three different strata viz., the rich, the poor and the middle class distinctly different from the bipolar divisions of the haves and the have-nots of the prior ages, it is not possible to completely de link education from employment. Education may simply be a process of acquisition of knowledge at the periphery level; but deep down it is a systematic endeavour of enriching one's innate qualities so as to Chistle or reshape his entire character accordingly. But, we make mistakes in choosing our field of study aiming at employment rather than our employability. So to me, the gap is not between aspiration and opportunity but between our expectation and employability. We should remember that the first doctor was not an M.B.B.S!

Hi This is based on the ratio of vacancies vs freshers . for eg. 200 pass out and vacancies are only 25. no candidates judge till now.

The GAP is in limited number of opportunies i.e. Supply is exceeding the demand giving rise to high competion and malpractices in the area of employment. Both companies and candidates give number of reasons to justify their stand and to certain extent they are right.

Hi All,
Thank you for your valuable feedback.
Many Candidates had attended so many interviews that they get depressed. They lose hope and just say I don't want to work in this stream and change their streams.
Because of this, they find tough to get settled into new domain and get to a place where there no path.
We came across such candidates who were from MBA Finance and migrated to HR stream saying there are no openings in Finance domain.
Few days after, Unable to understand the process they approached the management saying that they would like to leave this organization as they are unable to do so...
I feel that this is one of the reasons that candidates don't get settled in one job.
Please suggest..
