Tanu4hr,

Some more information would help me in suggesting a draft message, specifically:
- Was there a practice of allowing employees to work from home?
- If there was a practice, was it explicit or informal?
- Why do you want to discontinue the practice?

Thank you.

Hi Sir,

It's not a regular practice. Being an IT company, sometimes we allow our employees to work from home (WFH) due to some genuine reasons. However, nowadays, everyone has started following this, which goes against our company rules and regulations.

Therefore, my management wants me to send an email to all employees, instructing them not to work from home and that it will be considered as a full-day leave.

Shouldn’t you have a maximum threshold above which you cannot allow WFH in each month?? Completely suspending the policy can have a strong reactions from employees.

Hi Tanu and Kanchan,

As HR professionals, it would have been appropriate if you had shared a draft for others to improve upon. Anyway, please consider the following and develop your own.

QUOTE

Dear employees,

Firstly, the management would like to express its appreciation for the excellent work that all of you have been doing. Thanks to your efforts, the company has made significant progress.

To assist those facing genuine difficulties, management had allowed employees to work from home in certain unavoidable circumstances. However, it has now come to our attention that this has more or less become the norm, with many employees choosing to work solely from home. This situation has put management in a challenging position, as face-to-face meetings, client meetings, and employee interactions have all been adversely affected.

Henceforth, all employees are required to work only from the office, and the option of working from home is immediately withdrawn. Management has been compelled to take this step due to the reasons explained above. We trust that you understand the situation and will continue to provide the same level of support as you have always done in the past.

You may modify the above draft to suit your convenience.
