Hello,
I draw a salary of Rs 12000/-PM, where i want my family also to be eligible for ESIC treatment . On requesting of addition of my father & mother to avail treatment (CMC Limited , Bangalore)HR told your father is retired Govt Employee so he is not covered under ESIC Treatment, nor my mother is eligible for treatment. My father gets pension of Rs 8000/- , this was the reason for discontinuing treatment at ESIC. I was told monthly salary should not cross more than Rs 5000/- , so he is not eligible for treament . Kindly let me know whether i can add father & mother to avail treatment in ESIC.

Sir,
Please refer to Section 2(11)(v) of ESI Act, 1948 which defines "family" under said Act. Please also refer to Rule 61A of ESI (Central) Rules, 1952 which lays down a condition of monetary ceiling of income of Rs. 5000/- per month of dependants parents for eligibility to medical benefit under said Act.
I think, your HR is correct. However, in case you are not satisfied, you can visit the appropriate Branch Office of ESIC alongwith your Identity Card and can discuss the matter with the Branch Manager.
