Hi Hitesh,

Do you have anything specific to ask? What is the mandate? Why are you doing the pre- and post-training exercises? Who are the participants? What is the coverage? What are the views of the trainers?

Lastly, do you have any 'personal' views on how you would like to do it and what you are seeking to achieve?

I know a lot of people will pour responses without needing to understand these elements, but that is less productive for you! So, please clarify...

Dear Hitesh,

It all depends primarily on the topics and audience. As you mentioned Managers, and if they are new managers, and you would like to train them on how to cope up and manage well as new leaders, try a written 5-minute questionnaire with objective type and 2-4 line answers, subjective ones not more than 2-3. Cover some real-time client escalations, time management issues, work delegation, team skills, and also on proactive and reactive approaches. See how they think during the pre-session and how their thought process changes in the post-session.

Dear,

The pre-training includes - what to train. The post-training includes - how to train. If you are to train an individual, you need to observe where they are training and where you need to really work. The training itself is a broad term; it is not specific to any one program. When it comes to HR training, you need to be perfect in training your people. Training programs are being offered by various institutes and professional HR consultants.

Dear Hitesh,

Your query is not concrete. Anyway, let me understand it and respond.

In a nutshell, the purpose of pre-training and post-training activities is to identify training evaluation levels and objectives.

Pre-training exercises:

- Learning needs are assessed.
- Objectives are defined at higher levels.
- Expectations are created with stakeholders.
- Finalization of date, time, and venue of the training and conveying the schedule to trainees.
- Sharing some background about the training/providing training material.
- Providing a brief note about the trainer.
- Getting the checklist/questionnaire filled by the trainees, and so on...

Post-training exercises:

- Collating attendance, feedback from training, etc.
- Providing the presentation file, etc., to trainees.
- Who are the stakeholders?
- What factors will influence results?
- Sharing the training follow-up plan with trainees.
- Getting the post-training checklist/questionnaire filled by the trainees.
- The evaluation is completed, capturing a variety of data.
- Results are communicated to the appropriate stakeholders, and so on...
